Insider tips
Get to know Thuringia from its unexpected side. Visit small markets, hidden studios or special viewpoints that are off the beaten track.
Carriage Museum
The former farming town at the foot of Leuchtenburg was first mentioned in documents in 876 AD. Today, the almost completely preserved city wall with its medieval buildings, city gates and towers bears witness to its eventful history. In 1844, Kahla became a porcelain town.
We are happy to arrange a guided tour for groups or a carriage ride for 2–4 people, complete with wonderful stories told by the coachman — and, if you wish, with homemade cake and coffee.

Lehmhof Lindig
Relax in the courtyard café with coffee or tea and freshly homemade cakes or a hearty herb soup. You can also get advice on ecological construction, growing and using herbs, and much more.
The café offers 36 seats indoors; in summer, an additional 54 seats are available on a rooftop terrace or in the garden, as well as 64 seats inside the “belly of the Lindworm.”

Aunt Irma Museum
In this interactive museum, both young and old can enjoy not only looking at the exhibits but also touching, wearing, and trying them out. Families and friends are guided into the museum’s “parlor” or “kitchen,” just like in Grandma’s days.
We’re happy to arrange guided tours for groups, including coffee and cake, at this special place.
Kahlaer Straße 21, 07768 Hummelshain

Kahla City Tour
If you prefer not to explore Kahla on your own, city guide Michael Gauer will introduce you to the historic old town in a special way. Learn stories about the Saale town, discover fascinating facts about Kahla’s architectural heritage, and hear about the lives of its past and present residents.
We are also happy to help arrange a guided tour for groups.
