First

The Leuchtenburg

Second

The historic hunting complex

The historic hunting complex “Rieseneck” and the “Herzogstuhl”.

Built as early as 1620, the initially wooden complex, which was renewed due to disintegration in the years 1712 to 1727, is the last fully preserved Baroque hunting complex in Europe with its walls, corridors and loopholes.

The Dukes of Saxe-Altenburg and their entourage hunted here while they stayed in nearby Hummelshain Castle.

Thirdly

Hummelshain with Jagdschloss

Because of the ducal hunts in the Hummelshain precinct, construction of the castle began in 1529. In 1664, Friedrich-Wilhelm II had a hunting lodge built as a summer residence. In 1880, the neo-Renaissance style castle, which can still be visited today, was built, which is one of the most beautiful palace buildings in Germany.

Fourthly

Wolfersdorf Castle

The former hunting lodge “Zur Fröhlichen Wiederkunft” in Wolfersdorf is a unique building from the 16th century, in which Renaissance and neo-Gothic styles are reflected. The incomparable location of the water castle gives visitors an extraordinary impression.
